SEPA Direct Debit

SEPA Direct Debit is the pan-European pull-payment scheme covering all SEPA member states. The buyer signs a mandate authorizing the merchant to debit their bank account; Parapay stores the mandate and submits subsequent debits as part of the normal payments API. Settlement runs on the SEPA clearing calendar (typically D+1 to D+2). Consumers retain an 8-week unconditional return right and a 13-month right for unauthorized debits, so SEPA Direct Debit is best suited for recurring billing with established customer relationships rather than one-off high-risk purchases.
