American Express

American Express is a closed-loop card network — Amex issues the card and acquires the merchant on most transactions, which gives Parapay end-to-end control of authorization and dispute handling. Average ticket size on Amex is typically higher than the Visa/Mastercard average, which makes it worth adding for premium and travel verticals. Refunds and chargeback responses run through the same API as the rest of your card stack; Amex's SafeKey 2.0 authentication is wired into the standard 3DS flow.
